About Us

Ashton Taylor-Smith trained at the Central School, where he achieved a BA in Theatrical Design, and History of Art. After working as a theatrical and interior designer, based in London, Ashton decided to relocate back to his home in Kent. A working studio became a gallery, and in the summer of 1985, Taylor Smith was opened. Whilst continuing his work in the theatre, and interior design, the gallery reflected a new and fresh approach to the selling of antiques, with a strong emphasis on design. Closing the gallery in 2016, Ashton now runs his antiques and design business from home, a stones throw from Chartwell, Sir Winston Churchill's home. Taylor-Smith has built up a reputation for dealing in high quality, and desirable piece's, for an appreciative client list. In tandem, Ashton's design work has grown, both for private clients and high end developers. The latter has seen him working within the extremes of design, from that of the master of minimalist design, John Paulson, and McLaren Autos, to historical projects, for private clients, and the National trust.
